1960's
A decade of tremendous social change, which was echoed by a massive change in fashion between the start and finish of the decade. From the 'buttoned down' grown up look for both men and women at the beginning of the decade... women's dress changed to a more youthful look with short shift dresses in psychedelic prints and long boots. Without a hat, now hair could be the focus and got bigger with beehives in both short and long styles. Men's fashion changed too, with lighter colours, lightweight fabrics and a slimmer, younger silhouette.
Towards the end of the decade, the peace-loving, flower power hippy look came from subculture into mainstream style (and then carried on well into the 70's)
